I've always dreamed of going "Across the Pond," and what better occasion than my birthday to make it happen! Being born in the fantastic month of November, I'm naturally inclined to seek out milder or even chillier climates for my birthday celebrations. London is famous for its brisk conditions, but we embraced it because we knew what was coming. So, let me start by telling you how we made this exciting journey happen.
My husband and I had an amazing experience flying business class overnight from Lafayette to London! We snagged these fantastic seats using the thrilling “points and miles” strategy. For those who haven’t dived into this exciting world, it’s all about collecting bank points through credit card welcome offers or everyday spending, and then transferring them to your favorite airline or hotel. You can also rack up miles by getting a credit card directly with your chosen airline, meeting the minimum spend for that irresistible welcome offer, or shopping through their portal. And here’s a pro tip: BOOK EARLY! Knowing when your airline releases seats gives you a major advantage. For us, American Airlines opens their seats 331 days before your travel date. So, in this case, being an early bird truly pays off!
We took advantage of these amazing options for a party of 2 business class flight seats!
We flew from LFT to DFW for just 32,000 miles and $11.20. Then we flew from DFW to LHR for just 125,000 miles + $11.20! What a deal!
Guess what? We were racking up those credit card welcome offers! We're huge fans of American Airlines and absolutely adore their service. Just picture jetting across the pond in business class for just pennies on the dollar. Yes, PLEASE!

As soon as we touched down at London Heathrow Airport, we hopped on the exciting London Heathrow Express, zooming us right into the heart of the city! We arrived at Paddington Station and eagerly jumped onto the tube, heading as close to our destination as possible.

Traveling light with just our carry-on luggage, we were thrilled not to have to navigate those charming cobblestone streets for too long. Check out the amazing AWAY CARRY On Luggage! Finally reaching our destination, we let out a joyful sigh of relief because we actually did it!
Our accommodations were absolutely fantastic! We stayed at the Great Scotland Yard Hotel, part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, and it was truly unforgettable.
And guess what? We used points and miles for our stay! We spent 3 nights for just 75,000 points and not a single penny more. That's right, Hyatt even covered the taxes! What an INCREDIBLE DEAL! Plus, we had a guest of honor who treated us to breakfast every morning. Since it was my birthday, I reached out to the hotel concierge to let them know, and they surprised me with the sweetest gift and a heartfelt welcome message. Stay tuned for more of our London adventures!
